Based in Brussels, le Refuge OPVANGHUIS is a place where LGBTQIA+ young people aged 18 to 25 can feel at home when they no longer have a roof over their heads. A space where they can stand back up, regain confidence, and find their way back into society.

I decided to work on this project because it deeply relates with my personal story. As someone who came out later in life, I know that had I done so as a teenager in my conservative family, I would have needed a refuge like this.

Discovering this place made my younger self feel safe, and it is now my mission to amplify the Refuge’s incredible work, both to reach those in urgent need and to champion the life-saving space they provide.
